OnePlus to make another 5G smartphone in 2019, could be OnePlus 7T 5G for international markets

Earlier this year, OnePlus made a great impact in the premium smartphone segment with its OnePlus 7 series phones. The OnePlus 7 Pro is a proper flagship Android phone in every sense with its premium features and in the global markets, OnePlus even released a 5G variant of the same. Despite 5G's availability being limited at the moment, the 5G variant also made a name for itself for being the fastest 5G smartphone so far. Following on the success, OnePlus will also be making another 5G smartphone this year.

According to a report from the Financial Times, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that OnePlus is working on another 5G smartphone which can be expected before the end of 2019. Lau said in an official statement to the publication that he believes that every flagship smartphone in late 2019 must be capable of supporting 5G networks. This is because 5G is expected to be available widely in 2020.

Although Lau didn't reveal the name of the device that the company is working on at the moment, it is expected that he's hinting the 'T' upgrade to the OnePlus 7 series. The 'T' upgrade is always expected in November of every year as an update to that year's OnePlus series phones. Therefore, the OnePlus 7T Pro will also be getting a 5G variant in international markets.

Now, leaks related to the OnePlus 7T Pro have been floating around the web. Leaked images of the phone have shown that the OnePlus 7T Pro will be physically similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro with its fullscreen notch-less display and triple rear camera setup. The front camera will mostly be sitting in a pop-up selfie camera.
For the OnePlus 7T Pro, it is expected that OnePlus will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset for additional power over the Snapdragon 855 used in the OnePlus 7 Pro. There are high chances that OnePlus will come with major updates to the camera performance in the OnePlus 7T Pro.

With the OnePlus 7T series, there are chances that OnePlus could even do a 5G version of the regular OnePlus 7T. A 5G variant of the OnePlus 7T could make 5G phone slightly more affordable and give the phone its bragging rights in the flagship killer segment. However, this is still speculation at the moment and it's not known whether this will materialise.
