The Indian Navy has sounded an alert over possibilities of a Pakistan-based terror attack, in the wake of the government's move to scrap Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources told India Today TV that the measures to heighten security along coastline came after the Parliament approved the decision to effectively scrap Article 370.
A top official told Hindustan Times that the Navy has sounded an alert on the eastern and western seaboards and added that every point of entry along the coastline is being monitored in real-time to identify any potential threats,
Meanwhile, security forces continue to maintain high alert in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Eid. While the situation has been largely peaceful, the preventive measures are in place to tackle any untoward activities, J&K Chief Secretary told India Today TV.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said told Pakistan to stay out of India's internal matter and not meddle with the government's Article 370 move.
However, Pakistan has continued to be on the offensive after India's decision. After stopping the Samjhauta Express before Wagah border yesterday, Pakistan today announced that it has suspended the Thar Express as well.
Slamming Pakistan's move, Kumar said, "Action taken by Pakistan is unilateral, have not consulted us. Whether it is Samjhauta express, trade relationship has been done without consulting us. We have urged them to reconsider these decisions."
"Our sense is whatever is being done by Pakistan is to present an alarming tone in bilateral relations, that something is big is going to happen, but that is not the case," he said.
"It is time for Pakistan to face reality and stop interfering in India's internal matters," Kumar added.
